Hi and welcome to my website!
I am an Acupuncture Physician and Doctor of Oriental Medicine.
I was awarded a Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine at Dragon Rises College of
Oriental Medicine in Gainesville Florida. Prior to this extensive training
I attended the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida earning a
Bachelor’s in Science in Biology with a Minor in Public Health. I attended and was awarded an Associate in Arts from Saint Johns River Community College in Saint Augustine, Florida. Additionally I attended Florida Community College at Jacksonville and was awarded an Associate in Science. This education and experience has highlighted the importance of acute, chronic, preventative and restorative health care and treatment for individuals and community. Healthcare is a deeply personal issue that is also a community issue. Many modalities may be involved to achieve balanced health.
As individuals and communities, we need each other in our quest for the best health care. In my practice each person's care is tailored to their needs. A differential diagnosis leads to positive outcomes. My role is to utilize my knowledge of oriental medicine, including acupuncture, moxa, herbal prescriptions, nutrition, and life style modifications to name a few in order to provide the best patient care, as well as refer patients as necessary or beneficial.
I have worked in the healthcare industry since 1995. In Massachusetts, I worked with mentally challenged patients under the direction of doctors and PhD's. In Florida, I pursued education and training in dental hygiene. Being a registered dental hygienist allowed me to assist patients in oral preventative medicine. In both of these fields. I came to realize that treating the whole person leads towards overall health with better outcomes.
Oriental medicine and acupuncture allows me to more fully treat the whole person. As a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, and Acupuncture Physician I have assisted patients with their health goals to a greater degree than previously as well as watched the transformation capabilities of the body. This ability to heal can often occur in predictable ways, with a proper differential diagnosis. No one person's health is just like a text book, such that each person must be cared for individually as their needs present. When the person's health doesn't match a text book case of the problem, Dr. Shen (a famous oriental doctor) would say; "book wrong," emphasizing the need to treat the individual patient.
Oriental Medicine has had a vast and varied history. When balance is reached
via acupuncture and herbal medicine, amazing results have been achieved. I see my
role as assisting in restoring balance, or better yet, giving the body a message for it to restore balance.
It is my privilege to be part of this shared journey.
Please call for an appointment so we can begin.
